Create opportunities for reflection

Dedicating time and space for learning is important. It should be planned for and built into routine, ensuring that all key stakeholders are able to attend. Programs should review their successes and failures, record the lessons and share them in a form that employees find open and accessible. Of course, not all learning comes from program reflection and analysis. Sometimes important insights come from looking outside one’s immediate environment to gain a new perspective. Conferences and trainings can be fertile sources of new ideas and catalysts for creative thinking. Time should be taken afterwards to distil key insights and share them within teams.

  • Do you have time routinely set aside to pause and reflect?
  • Do you disseminate key learnings from program successes and failures in easy to access and digestible forms?
  • Do you routinely share learnings after conferences, trainings or activities unrelated to your program?
